Tom has been volunteering at Waverley before heading off to medical school in September. This is what he says about his time with us:
After volunteering as a befriender at Waverley for about a year I can honestly say that I cannot think of a more enjoyable or worthwhile way to spend my Thursday afternoons! During this time I have had the privilege to listen to many fascinating stories and shared plenty of laughs with the ladies and gentlemen at Waverley. Hearing the thoughts of older people on various topics of discussion is really interesting to me and I feel that they appreciate hearing a younger person's view. The day ends with an activity such as a word game, a quiz or bowls. These are all very lively occasions with everyone getting involved and having a great time which is fantastic to see! Waverley has a wonderfully welcoming atmosphere and my time here has been incredibly rewarding, developing my personal skills immensely. I'm very grateful to everyone at Waverley for giving me this opportunity. My Thursday afternoons at Waverley will be greatly missed when I go to University next year!

Thanks to Tom and all our volunteers for the time they give so willingly.
